    About

Established in 1971, the Animal Welfare Society in Walmer is an open shelter taking in unwanted, lost and abandoned animals across Port Elizabeth. Alongside adoptions from its kennels and catteries, the society runs a 24-hour cruelty and neglect investigation service, an on-site veterinarian and a crematorium. It functions as a rescue and rehoming centre rather than a commercial boarding kennel for pet owners.
