A wide artificial lake in Johannesburg's Emmarentia and Greenside area, built after the Second Boer War and named for the wife of the engineer who dammed the Westdene Spruit. A path along the water's edge draws walkers, joggers, and families, with the Johannesburg Botanical Garden bordering one side for extra shade. Open daily from 8am to 6pm with no entry fee, it's one of the city's best-known dog-walking spots, though a leash is officially required near the parking areas.
