Gilfillan Park

Gilfillan Park, also known locally as Jeppe Park, is a community-designed urban park in Jeppestown, Johannesburg. It was reshaped through a participatory placemaking process with residents of the densely populated suburb, turning a previously neglected space into a safe, well-used public green area. The redesign won recognition at the 2019 ILASA landscape architecture awards and has been highlighted by the City of Johannesburg as a model for urban open-space upgrades.
