Eight rescued medium to large farm dogs. Langdam prefers to keep them inside while guest dogs are outside their own cottage boundary, as they can be territorial.
Langdam is an owner-run working fruit, wine and guest farm on the R318 in the Koo Valley near Montagu. Choose from self-catering cottages and suites, each with an indoor fireplace and a covered braai, or one of ten safari tents set around a shared kitchen, ablution block and lapa. Most cottages have a stone plunge pool, and a wood-fired hot tub can be added for an extra fee, subject to availability. Spend your days catching largemouth bass in the dams, walking the farm and hiking the mountain trails. The farm is off the grid and runs on solar power. Dogs stay free, by prior arrangement, in Langdam's five dog-friendly cottages: Guineafowl, Plum, Shepherd, Apple and Almond. Guests sign Langdam's dog policy when they book. Apricot Suite and Pear Cottage are not suitable for dogs.

The five dog-friendly cottages are Guineafowl, Plum and Shepherd on the more secluded lower farm, and Apple and Almond on the upper farm. Apricot Suite and Pear Cottage are not suitable for dogs. Plum and Guineafowl suit dogs that do not get on with other dogs. Cottage gardens have low stone walls (about 1 to 1.2 m) that will not hold a dog that wants to jump, so the cottages do not suit dogs that tend to run away. Guests with dogs join a WhatsApp group and say when they leave and return to their cottage. Reactive dogs get pre-booked time slots on the main farm. Supervise dogs when swimming in the dam or pool. Horses, chickens and geese roam free and the neighbours farm sheep, so keep dogs off the neighbouring farms. The nearest vet is in Robertson, about an hour's drive.
