A stretch of coastline at Keurboomstrand near Plettenberg Bay, Poortjies is split by Bitou Municipality into a dog-on-lead section toward the caravan park and a dog-friendly section toward Milkwood Manor, part of a wider Garden Route zoning system that protects nesting shorebirds. Since a rabies scare in local seal populations in September 2024, leashing has been required across all Plett beaches as a precaution. Waste bins are provided near the beach entrances.
