Steiltes Nature Reserve is a quiet, lesser-known patch of veld in the heart of Nelspruit (Mbombela), built around a large granite hill. A network of short looped trails, taking anywhere up to two hours, winds through canopy forest, open woodland, rocky outcrops and a kloof with a running stream, with ridge-top views along the way. Entry is free, and the reserve is popular with birdwatchers, with over 150 recorded species.
