Townsend Park

Townsend Park anchors Ballito's town centre, bordered by trees along its east, west and southern edges. Much of its character comes from residents: a longtime local has spent five years planting fig, wild olive, red beech and other indigenous trees, while the adjoining Butterfly Forest, started by a neighbour in the 1980s, is tended jointly with the Ballito Lions Club. It reads as a community-grown green pocket rather than a manicured municipal park, with tree cover still expanding each season.
