Jan Marais Park, more formally the Jan Marais Nature Reserve, is a 23-hectare green space near the centre of Stellenbosch, established in 1919. Its fynbos and renosterveld cover a network of walking, hiking and mountain-biking trails around a natural pond dotted with public artworks, plus a labyrinth and picnic spots. A kiosk serves light refreshments and there are ablutions on site. Dogs are welcome on a leash, though open fires and alcohol are not permitted.
Note from SitnStay: Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times; open fires and alcohol are prohibited in the reserve.
