Newlands Forest covers the eastern slopes of Table Mountain beside the Newlands suburb, mixing indigenous Afrotemperate forest and fynbos with older pine plantations, and is jointly managed by SANParks and the City's Parks Department. Shaded trails climb toward Kirstenbosch and Skeleton Gorge, with wide views over the Cape Flats along the way. Dog walking is permitted here as part of Table Mountain National Park, though dogs must stay under close control throughout.
Note from SitnStay: Part of Table Mountain National Park, where dog walking is allowed in designated sections under a SANParks activity permit; dogs must be under the owner's control at all times and may not be on the mountain unaccompanied.
