Call ahead to confirm dogs are welcome.
This is the George branch of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture's State Veterinary Service, based on Varing Street and covering the George, Riversdale, Mossel Bay, Uniondale and Knysna magisterial districts. A control animal health technician and five animal health technicians run livestock disease surveillance and periodic free rabies vaccination campaigns for dogs and cats. It functions as a public animal-health office rather than a walk-in clinic.
Note from SitnStay: A government animal-health office rather than a private practice; free rabies vaccination campaigns for dogs and cats are run periodically in the district rather than offered as routine walk-in consultations.
