Sunrise Beach is a stretch of Muizenberg's coastline on Baden Powell Drive, best known as the home beach of the False Bay Lifesaving Club and a training ground for young 'nippers'. Strong southeasterly winds make it a favourite with kitesurfers, and the daily Muizenberg flea market sets up alongside it, busiest on Sundays. The beach has parking, toilets, disability access and lifeguards on duty. Dogs are welcome on leads year-round, with an additional midday restriction during the December to March peak season.
Note from SitnStay: Dogs are allowed on leads. From April to November leashed dogs are permitted on the beach at all times; from December to March, dogs are not allowed between 10:00 and 18:00. One listing also references an off-leash area east of the lifesaving club building.
