Photo: The Hoek Espresso Bar
Café · Franschhoek, Western Cape
A small, unpretentious espresso bar in Franschhoek, The Hoek is favoured more by locals than the wine-tourist crowd passing through town. Trained baristas pull espresso from Cape Town roaster Deluxe Coffeeworks, alongside loose-leaf teas, red espresso, chai and local juices, with cookies, biscotti, rusks and croissants to go with them. Free wifi and a few quiet corners make it as workable for a slow morning of laptop work as for a quick coffee between wine-farm visits.
