De Waal Park is a fenced Victorian-era park in Oranjezicht, opened in 1895 as Cape Town's first large public green space and still run today by the volunteer Friends of De Waal Park alongside the City. Its roughly seven hectares hold over 120 tree species, a fountain pond, tennis courts and free summer concerts on the lawns. It functions as a fully fenced off-leash dog park with poop bags supplied at the gates, making it one of the city's most established daily dog-walking spots.
