Vetch's Beach sits between Addington Beach and Point Waterfront on Durban's Marine Parade, named for a 500m man-made pier built by Captain James Vetch as a failed breakwater. The submerged structure has since become a popular reef for scuba divers and anglers, with warm 22C water a few metres deep drawing tropical fish and crayfish. Entry is free and daylight visits are recommended for safety.
