Clifton 1st is the quietest of Cape Town's four Clifton beaches, tucked below Victoria Road on the Atlantic Seaboard with the same white sand and turquoise water as its more famous neighbours. Unlike Clifton 2nd through 4th, which restrict dogs each summer, several dog-focused guides list Clifton 1st as free-running for dogs year-round, making it a favourite with local walkers wanting a calmer stretch of sand.
