Westville Park, on the grounds near the Westville Civic Centre in Durban, is one of greater Durban's few dedicated off-lead dog parks. It combines a large open grassy field with a forest section of indigenous yellowwood trees and a wetland, giving dogs varied terrain in one visit. The wetland and forest are cared for by the Westville Conservancy, and regular dog walkers keep the footpaths in good shape. Entry is free, with shaded areas and lighting for evening visits, and it draws a social crowd of well-socialised, off-leash dogs.
