It offers wide sand and warm year-round swimming conditions, with easy access to the promenade and nearby landmarks including Suncoast Casino and beachfront hotels such as Blue Waters Hotel. The beach draws surfers, families and sunbathers throughout the day. eThekwini Municipality has in the past barred dogs from Durban's beachfront over the December-January festive season, reopening it to dogs afterward.
