A steep out-and-back climb to a 910 m flat-topped peak in the Jonkershoek range above Stellenbosch, rimmed with sandstone and offering wide views over the town, the Banhoek valley, Simonsberg and False Bay. The route starts from the parking area at the top of Rozendal Road, or from an entrance on Helshoogte Pass opposite Delaire Graff, and follows a spur through pine and gum plantation before steepening into fynbos, ending with a short gully scramble. Trails here are maintained by the Stellenbosch Trail Fund. Dogs are permitted on leash.
Note from SitnStay: Dogs may join the hike but must stay on a leash. The upper section is a steep, rocky scramble, and there is no water on the route, so carry enough for your dog.
