Dogs can't come inside.
Coetzenburg forms part of the Stellenbosch Trail Fund's free public trail network on municipal land, with a trailhead at Die Ou Landbousaal near the university sports grounds. Routes range from the easy, river-hugging Koloniesland loop to the technical Maties XCO track, which once hosted an African leg of the UCI World Cup. Trail runners, walkers and their dogs regularly share the paths, and the network links onward to Eden Forest and Botmaskop. No entry fee is charged, though donations are welcome.
Note from SitnStay: Trails are open public land with no entry fee; dogs are commonly present alongside runners and cyclists, though no formal off-leash designation was confirmed.
